Layla’s Dance (2010)12 x 16 inacrylic and ink on canvas
I don’t know if you can guess this, but, this is suppose to portray a belly dancer. I was trying to minimalize everything and was hoping that the arabic in the background (which took forever to copy… definitely thinking twice about doing something like that ever again) will give this an air of a belly dancer. again, i hadn’t much inspiration in naming the piece so the name is taken from the arabic poem in the background… it was called Layla something… i’ve forgotten at the moment… anyway… the hair was a delight to paint and the top was fun to do… remind me a bit of when i was little and use to paint with the toothbrush… of course, back then, no masking tape was involved
